“V.O.I.D.” EP by Sha Ru showcases fresh artistic angles since their previous releases. The three club-focused tracks cover personal experiences of overcoming fear while the band is exploring singing in english. The lead track “V.O.I.D.” tells the story of the flight that the band took earlier in the year where they started to face severe turbulence and noticed bright flashes outside the window. it seemed to be the originating point of a storm. The sounds in the track reflect the intensity of this fear through the distorted bassline and the dynamic break of the dnb section of the song.

“Hover” describes a different kind of fear. that type of fear that only your mind processes. The lyrics cover the situation in which two people have different points of views on something they strongly believe in. They both try to prove their point to each other, but they’re both stubborn and the atmosphere feels “Numb”. Nevertheless, the two also want to solve the conflict, and they start to communicate transparently. The sonic atmosphere of the track is the least aggressive on the EP since the climate of this kind of fear is the most complex as it involves multiple people who are afraid of the conflict outcome. The last track on the release “Moi” takes a different approach to narrate the generic sense of fear. The sonic palette translates a consistent increase in the energy, just like the fear that slowly intensifies in your mind and body that then suddenly controls you fully. This is represented by the growing synth in the middle of the track and the percussions that keep up the tension across the chronicle of the song.
